WW1 Period Peek Frean & Co Shop Counter Top Biscuits Display

This is a fabulous, small and rare piece of memorabilia connected to the historic Frean Biscuit Factory with a Royal Warrant granted by King George V. This came from the famous shop counter top display located outside the front door of their factory in Bermondsey, London which was visited by Servicemen and women on their way to the Front at the beginning of WW1.

This interesting blackened display frame with Royal Warrant decal to the top, centre with a red cushioned body having a well polished 1914 Princess Mary gift tin inserted and remains of beadwork decoration. Reverse of the frame has the original printed label from the company, “When the biscuits in this frame become unsightly through exposure, a request should be sent for fresh samples which will be enclosed free of charge in the next consignment of biscuits”.
